Conquer the Wild Trails: Reykjavík’s Challenging Mountain Adventure

Gear up for an invigorating exploration of Reykjavík’s untamed wilderness on a challenging 5-6 hour trek that promises breathtaking vistas and an adrenaline-fueled journey into nature’s embrace.

Setting Off: Into the Heart of Rugged Landscapes

Your day begins with a self-drive to the trailhead, brimming with anticipation for the adventure that lies ahead. The trail unfurls before you, promising a more demanding but immensely rewarding journey through Iceland’s raw and untamed terrain.

Ascending the Heights: Nature’s Challenge and Rewards

The trail starts with a demanding ascent, pushing your limits amidst rocky pathways and steep inclines. As you ascend, the landscape transforms, revealing stunning contrasts of craggy peaks, moss-covered valleys, and pristine streams cascading down the slopes. Our guides are storytellers and outdoor enthusiasts who love to educate and inform guests about everything there is to know about the geology, folklore, history and landscape of the areas they visit.

The Summit: A Triumph of Endurance

After a challenging climb, the summit unveils itself, an emblem of your triumph over nature’s obstacles. The panoramic views from this lofty perch are a testament to your perseverance—a tapestry of unparalleled beauty that encompasses Reykjavík’s skyline and the vast expanse of Iceland’s unspoiled wilderness.

Exploration and Reverence: Amidst Natural Wonders

Take a well-deserved moment to explore the summit’s surroundings, soaking in the magnificence of the landscape. As you catch your breath, marvel at the grandeur of the mountains, valleys, and distant horizons—a testament to the raw power and serene beauty of nature.

The Descent: Reflections and Gratitude

As you begin the descent, reflect on the challenges overcome and the profound connection forged with the untamed landscapes. Each step down brings new perspectives, allowing you to appreciate the journey in a different light.

Conclusion: Memories Carved in Adventure

As the tour concludes, a sense of accomplishment accompanies you on the drive back to Reykjavík. The memories of this exhilarating adventure, the triumphs over challenging terrain, and the profound beauty of Iceland’s mountains will remain etched in your mind—an experience that enriches the spirit and fuels the adventurer within.

You bring Warm clothes and socks, wind- and waterproof jacket, sturdy shoes, gloves, buff, hat and sunglasses. Water and snacks. Hiking poles are recommended but not necessary.

Minimum age 10 yrs

Warm clothes such as wool, fleece/soft-shell, hardshell and a puffy jacket are mandatory on all tours. On a good summer day it is possible to strip down to a thin shirt and stuff the rest in a small backpack, but usually only for a short while! The Icelandic weather is famously volatile and warm layers and rain gear should always be at hand.

Good and sturdy hiking boots or trail shoes are a must. Pair your boots with warm and soft hiking socks and you're golden.

Don't forget gloves. Yes, also in the summertime :) Plus something to cover your neck and head with. Preferably that something is made out of wool, which means it doesn't loose it's insulation qualities if wet.

Also bring sunglasses and hiking poles, if you've got them.

Last, but not least. Fill your water bottle with the pure Icelandic tap water and slip it into your backpack along with some energy bars / snacks. If the tour lasts more than 3 hrs. you should also pack a light lunch, such as a sandwich.
